Take Time To Take Time Out

The people I talk to all day long are problem solvers so they tend to put their own needs on the back burner while they take care of other people’s pressing problems.”

Any of you who have ever been to any of my workshops, or have done coaching with me, knows that we always take some time to focus on “What are you going to do about it?” and “How are you going to deal with whatever is usually the underlying problem?” The problem is almost never that you've lost your job – or whatever the acute problem is that is presenting when we first start out together.

You may have seen my video last year about how I meditated every single day for one year (see last video posted below). Next week it will be two years so I’d like to remind us all that meditation is another easy and FREE tool that we can use to deal with all that shit that comes up, especially if we're in law or a regulatory position, a pilot, a nurse, a doctor, or a police officer. When we have those really stressful jobs so many of those human factors come up on the daily. In this market it can be as simple as the additional workload that each of us carries. If you're losing your marbles, here's another tool that we can use.

The people I talk to all day long are problem solvers so they will tend to put their own needs on the back burner while they take care of other people’s pressing problems. We need to be dealing with this stuff, because it does affect our jobs. It does affect our families and affects ourselves. I don't think you should wait to age into caring about yourself. Like a lot of people (me). Are you waiting for permission? Here you go: Please go ahead and start looking after yourself now.

If you think “Who has time to meditate? I can’t meditate I have kids and a job and I already have to work out. I don't have time to meditate."  I've been there.

I thought I would take this opportunity to over-share. A year or two ago, my stress level was so high I thought I was having a heart attack ALL THE TIME. My health was terrible and my relationships were tanking. As a self-employed single mother who was the President of everything, I was convinced I didn’t have the time to meditate. I was wrong. I am here to tell you that if I had not made time, I don’t want to think about where my head, or my heart, would be at today.

You can make time. 15 or 20 minutes will do it. It doesn't have to be a real arduous practice. Just take 20 minutes for you so you can breathe preferably through your nose and into heart. That's it. It's actually not hard. It's not rocket science.

It probably is rocket science but I just haven't gotten to that part yet.

Take care of you.
